As we all know the red line is broken, for rails all they really have to do is role back and forth and hold R1. I am not going to talk about that though, I'm going to talk about the lack of skill in the pilots of these tanks that it has caused. Rail tanking from the redline is easy, you have a safe zone that you can shoot from, i think one of the reasons rail tankers believe the only way to deal with dropships is with a rail tank from the red because they don't know how to actually respond to any sort of combat situation. Sure they can blow up vehicles from the red, but as soon as they venture out from the red and start getting shot at they seem to have no clue as to how to respond except run back to the red line. This is the response I have seen time and time again when a red line tanker grows a pair, they get hit and loose any sort of manhood they had. Even flux grenades send them running for the hills. This is bad, its taught people to be skill less, and that reflects badly on the actually skilled tankers in dust. I have only ever encountered two tankers who knew how to respond to a dropship, props to them for being in the fight and knowing how to react.
I am a dropship pilot, and to do my various jobs I had to learn how to respond to every threat on the field. I don't have the option of sitting safe and cozy with a cuppa in the red. Every battle I'm in the thick of it, and that's what makes me a good pilot, I know how to react and respond to the changing battle. Its what we call skill and experience.
When the redline is fixed or rail guns changed so they don't have an option to sit still without a care in the world we are going to see a lot of rail tankers getting blown up by dropships and coming here to complain they are op. This will not be the case, it will be seasoned dropship pilots who have fought in many combat situations and know how to destroy tanks against tankers who have never thought about how to engage a dropship from outside the red. As a dropship pilot this concerns me, dropships are not op they are quite balanced, swarms could stand to gain some damage but otherwise they are solid. They take an immense amount of isk sp and flight time to use effectivly. They shouldn't suffer a needless Nerf back to chromosome days because a rail tanker couldn't figure out how to fight them. /rant |
